My full pantry. Something I have never had to think about today or growing up. I never realized, until recently how lucky I was in this fact. I go to the pantry and I retrieve what I need. If I am out of something, I add to my list and buy it the next time I am out. This is not the luxury of too many Americans. 40 Million people in the US struggle with hunger. 1 in 6 children and seniors face hunger or malnourishment. The rate of hunger among older adults increased 65% from 2007-2014 (www.medicareadvantage.com/senior-hunger-in-america.) What are you doing to help in your community? Please donate to your local food bank, try something substantial that the participants cannot afford for themselves. Is there a school in your area, where kids have lunch debt? Maybe pay off a child's debt for them. Can you deliver for Meals on Wheels? Are you a gardener, can you help with a community garden, or teach people how to plant and what to do with the end product? Have you heard of A Simple Gesture? Go to asimplegesture.org to find out more. It is an amazing program that helps keep Food Banks stocked all year. For the global picture, work for social justice for all. This includes a living wage, quality housing and schools for all, and so much more! Think outside the box, think about what you can do to help everyone have a full pantry.
